URGENT! Our shelter is in crisis. The increase in dogs and cats has skyrocketed expenses. Public aid only covers 11% of the annual costs, and private donations are not enough. Our facilities are collapsing, and the animals are stressed. We owe over 10,000 euros to veterinarians, and the bills keep increasing. In May alone, we received 37 dogs. PLEASE, HELP US (donate, become a member, volunteer, or foster)

Chano is a 14-year-old mixed breed dog, part Dalmatian and part Labrador, who spent his last 2 years locked up in a garage in Alcañiz, barely seeing the light of day and urinating and defecating on himself. A neighbor noticed the poor conditions he was living in, informed us about it, and we approached the owner to ask if he would give him to us. He agreed to surrender Chano because, according to him, he couldn’t take care of the dog due to a complicated situation at home, where he had to care for his two sick parents.

First and foremost, it’s essential to mention that Chano has a very calm and docile personality, constantly seeking love and affection. His calm and serene nature makes him the perfect companion for anyone looking for a tranquil and peaceful pet.

However, Chano has several health issues: he is deaf and has benign fatty tumors in his neck that restrict his head movement and make it difficult for him to move his front legs normally. In addition, he suffers from age-related ailments such as arthritis, which causes him pain when moving, cataracts, and a heart murmur. Unfortunately, Chano had not been taken to a veterinarian since 2010 when he was last vaccinated as a puppy.

Surgery was ruled out due to its complexity and his advanced age. Given the heart murmur, it is unlikely he would survive the procedure. It is crucial to emphasize that his health has improved since he arrived at the shelter, and we believe that with a suitable home, he could improve even more.

Chano adores attention and affection. Our dream, and his too, would be to find a foster home where he can receive the love and care he needs for the rest of his days. His previous owner has committed to covering his veterinary expenses, so the foster family wouldn’t have to worry about that.

Adoption costs for dogs  : ADULT 180€ / PUPPY 120€ All animals available for adoption have a microchip and passport. They have been tested for common diseases (Leishmania for dogs, FeLV and FIV for cats). Adult animals are fully vaccinated and castrated.

* Until complete adaptation, adult supervision with small children is essential.

** This means we have tested the dog with cats in the shelter and has shown no reactive behaviour, but this does not guarantee 100% compatibility with cats. Therefore, we always advise that cats and dogs are together only under surveillance.
