Atenea was one of several cats who was found in a breeding house in Alcañiz, where she was used to produce kittens to be sold. The conditions in which she and many other cats were found in were appalling. They were in small cages where they could barely move and they were covered in faeces and urine. On arrival at the shelter, Atenea was heavily pregnant and had 4 kittens at the shelter whom have all now been rehomed.
Because of Atenea’s extrememly horrible start in life, she is fearful of humans. Used solely for breeding, she has never experienced love and affection. You can put food down in front of her and gently touch her, but she is extremely nervous and distrustful. She does get on well with the other cats in the area and cuddles up with them every night to sleep.
Atenea needs someone who can give her space and time, someone patient who will slowly gain her trust, and provide her with a warm, loving and safe home. She really deserves to find someone who proves her there are still good people out there who she can trust.
Adoption costs for cats : ADULT 120€ / KITTEN 60€ All animals available for adoption have a microchip and passport. They have been tested for common diseases (Leishmania for dogs, FeLV and FIV for cats). Adult animals are fully vaccinated and castrated.* Until complete adaptation, adult supervision with small children is essential.
