Luigi was abandoned by her owner in January 2023 along with her best friend Luna. The two dogs had previously had puppies, which also ended up at the shelter and had to be adopted. This irresponsible owner had planned to move in a few weeks and wanted to get rid of both the pups and the parents. At APAP we are glad to have found out about this situation, since now Luigi and Luna are safe in the shelter. They get along very well with each other: For example, they eat next to each other in their box and don’t show any signs of resource protection. Luna and Luigi have yet to be permanently integrated into a dog group, but Luigi was tolerant in early trials with other males and tended to avoid conflicts. At first, Luigi is a bit insecure around people he doesn’t know. However, now he is very happy with the caregivers he meets and is progressing more and more everyday. We believe that a more rural and quiet environment would be better for him than life in the city or a family with many visitors and bustle. Luigi is athletic and will enjoy long walks as well as being mentally stimulated.
All animals available for adoption have a microchip and passport. They have been tested for common diseases (Leishmania for dogs, FeLV and FIP for cats). Adult animals are fully vaccinated and castrated.
* Until complete adaptation, adult supervision with small children is essential.
