History : Corbata is a podenco mix who was handed over to the shelter by her owner. The owner has a couple of grandchildren who visit her from time to time and unfortunately they are still young and quite inexperienced in the behavior of dogs.

Description : Corbata is a deaf dog, so she has to be handled differently. She is a very good-natured dog, but when little kids come up behind her and pull on her ears, she isn’t amused. As she has already bared her teeth in this type of situation, and the family considers that Corbata’s behavior with the children is too risky, Corbata had to leave. An alternative would have been to teach the children how to behave or just be there and protect the dog from those situations. Corbata always reacts in a friendly way when normal contact is made with her. She really likes people and she is delighted to meet anyone who walks into the group’s compound. When she gets a little pampering, she is very happy. She looks like she is used to living with people and she likes them very much.

We’re looking for : Now we are looking for a suitable home for Corbata, where her disability is taken into account. She can be adopted in a home with sensible, dog-experienced children, but not in a home where children do things they shouldn’t.

All animals available for adoption have a microchip and passport. They have been tested for common diseases (Leishmania for dogs, FeLV and FIP for cats). Adult animals are fully vaccinated and castrated.

* Until complete adaptation, adult supervision with small children is essential.
